Jazz Bantam League - the Ultimate player/team Experience
North & South Conferences
Divided into regional teams encompassing the entire state, our conference structure ensures balanced competition and reasonable travel distances for all participants.
Divisions By Area
Teams are organized around geographic areas, allowing players to develop alongside future high school teammates while building community connections.
In-Season Tournament
Our conference-based mid-season tournament provides additional competitive opportunities and prepares players for playoff-style basketball.
Statewide Playoffs
State champions are crowned for grades 5-8, giving teams something meaningful to compete for while experiencing high-stakes basketball.
Youth All-Star Weekend
8th grade All-Star games, 7th grade Rising Stars game, 3-point contest, skills challenges, and more showcase top talent across the state.
School Reinvestment
Donations made to host schools reinvest funds back into high school programs, strengthening the basketball ecosystem throughout Utah.
Highly Competitive League play
Jazz Bantam offers three distinct competitive tiers to ensure appropriate skill matching and development opportunities for all participants.
Mountain Flight
The most competitive and advanced tier in Jazz Bantam league play. A maximum of 1–2 teams per grade level per high school boundary are allowed in this flight to ensure the highest competitive league play possible.
City Flight
A highly competitive tier for remaining teams in a high school boundary where grade levels are 2–4+ teams deep, and for top teams in areas with historically smaller participation numbers and talent pools.
Desert Flight
A competitive tier with a growth focus for teams working to advance their game while still playing in a moderately competitive, but more equitable, environment. Perfect for programs that wish to keep and maintain programs 3–6+ teams per grade level.
*Placement is up to the High School/Bantam coaches and is selected during the team registration process. Only two flights may exist in some areas of the state based on total number of teams registering for each flight in that area.
OUR GROWTH STORY
Doubling Down on Development
Over just one year, the Brighton Basketball Camp has experienced tremendous growth—both in size and impact. What began as our first summer camp in 2024 with a modest group of participants grew exponentially by 2025, demonstrating the community's enthusiasm for our development-focused approach.
Camp Year 1 (2024)
Our inaugural year established the foundation of our program with a focus on fundamentals and team building.
Camp Year 2 (2025)
By our second year, we've nearly doubled in size, allowing us to create more specialized training groups and provide even more personalized instruction.
OUR PURPOSE
About the Brighton Girls Basketball Program
Our Mission
We develop well-rounded young women through basketball, emphasizing human development, discipline, and teamwork. By translating on-court skills to off-court success, we create a supportive environment where girls can thrive, especially in a world that often overlooks women's sports.
Our Vision
We envision a program where every player becomes part of something bigger than herself. By cultivating a pipeline from bantam levels upward, we're building a future of champions who win through teamwork, not individualism. Our girls will graduate as confident leaders equipped with grit, persistence, and leadership.
We've already turned around the program—winning more games in two years than most in our history—and we're just scratching the surface. This is about long-term impact: making others better in our presence and ensuring that influence lasts in our absence.
Core Values and Basketball Life Lessons
These principles, displayed in our locker room, guide everything we do. They translate from basketball to life:
Execution
(noun)
Stop talking and put in the work.
Discipline
(noun)
Doing what you know you should do instead of what you want to do.
Leadership
(noun)
Making others better as a result of your presence and ensuring that impact lasts in your absence.
Perseverance
(noun)
Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
Success
(noun)
It is not by accident or by chance. It's hard work, patience, learning, and sacrifice.
Leader
(noun)
Someone who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.
Persistence
(noun)
Hard work, rising from failures, achieving success through trial and error.
Grit
(noun)
Possessing an indomitable spirit, having a drive for achievement regardless of upbringing or situation, earning success in the trenches through hard work.
Hustle
(verb)
The only controllable pillar of success.
